Film and Video

Saskatchewan Motion Picture Association

The Saskatchewan Motion Picture Association (SMPIA) is committed to the intrinsic cultural and economic value of Motion Picture and works to create and advance opportunities for the production, promotion and appreciation of motion picture in Saskatchewan.

SMPIA was established in 1985, and in '89 became the Provincial Cultural Organization (PCO) for film and video, distributing financial support via Saskatchewan Lotteries. Funding six member organizations, backing film- and video-related initiatives, lobbying and advocacy efforts, SMPIA's mandate includes these priorities and more.

SMPIA, through its membership, has been integral in the successful implementation of such initiatives as the Saskatchewan Film Employment Tax Credit, SaskFILM, and the Saskatchewan Communications Network (SCN).
